ABOUT US
Childcare at The Laurels is owned and managed by Louise Pearson. A mother of two boys now aged 30 & 25, Louise has been devoted to her work in the Early Years sector for more than a decade. When seeking out a nursery for her own children, Louise found many nurseries unclean, too clinical, un-inspiring and at times un-welcoming. Worse than that there appeared to be little passion amongst staff and the children appeared to be an afterthought.

Making a difference
Alongside a wonderful team of mature, experienced and dedicated nursery practitioners, with skill sets ranging from several educational backgrounds, Childcare at The Laurels provides an enriched home from home environment for the children in their care. We work in close partnership with parents daily, building a 360-degree care approach. Childcare at The Laurels is the perfect size and provides a perfect balance between a childminders and a nursery. Children are provided with plenty of 1:1 attention, whilst getting to mix with others of a similar age and partake in group activities, in preparation for beginning school. We are truly proud of the progress we see and our school readiness programme receives praise from primary school teachers and parents year after year. Children leave us with the skills and confidence they need to thrive.
At regular intervals the children mix with other ages groups, meaning siblings spend time together, older children learn how to care for younger ones, and little ones are inspired by older peers. This does not however mean that each age group doesn’t have their own designated space, age appropriate area and curriculum.
Safeguarding is a top priority. All staff are DBS checked and registered with the government update service. A minimum of two references are obtained. They are also approved by Ofsted and regularly appraised. We have an open whistle blowing policy. All staff undergo paediatric first aid training and continuous professional development is encouraged. We are fully committed to providing families with exceptional childcare.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), ensuring that the children meet their early learning goals and are fully prepared to begin reception at age 4/5.
